Bolted Tank Jack Rental
We have 73 tank jacks that we use to construct bolted and welded tanks.
Jacks are used to erect sectional glass coated carbon steel tanks or stainless steel tanks complete with roofs.
Jacks can be used to construct tank walls without the need of using other lifting equipment or scaffold.
The installers stand on the ground during the installation of the tank plates and the jacks are then used to lift the tank during construction, this allows for a much safer installation as the risk associated with working on scaffold and working at heights are eliminated.
The tank roof is fitted to the first strake and the roof is completed before it is lifted allowing the roof to be constructed at a much lower level.
All tank pipe stubs and access ladders are bolted to the tank during the lifting stages of the tank.
The methods using jacks for the construction of tanks are well established and proven and have been used for years with great success.
The jacks are load tested after each time it is used and when they are placed in storage to ensure that they work efficiently with minimal risk.
On completion of any of the tests a certification document is issued and will be available for inspection on site.
Vuka Engineering and Construction or the Client will appoint a site supervisor to take control of the day to day site activities, this supervisor will be trained, experienced and competent in the set up and operation of the purpose made tank jacking equipment.
The remaining crew members will be trained and fully conversant in the use of jacking equipment.
Lifting jacks are positioned at vertical sheet seams.
Jack base plates and gearboxes are bolted to the base concrete.
PTO shafts are fitted between jacks and the tank will be lifted as one unit.
The jacks are cost effective and safer to use.

Bolted Tank Installation
We use our 73 tank jacks to construct bolted tanks and can also provide our crane truck to lift structural roof beams and roof plates into position.
We have support structures that we use to support the centre of the tank roof beams during the construction of the first strake. The centre support structure can be removed after the construction of the first strake is completed and when the roof beam installation is complete.
We have steel section that can be bolted to the concrete base and to the jacks that will allow the jacks to be placed on the outside of the tank during construction. These steel section is mainly used were other concrete structure and equipment prevent the placing of the jacks in the inside of the tanks.
We have skilled teams for the installation of the tanks.
Our first tank was installed by the team in 2004 and is 32 meters in diameter.

Mechanical Installation
We can fabricate and install water treatment equipment in mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, PVC, HDPE and GRP. We fabricate pump, UF, RO, EDI, GTM, Ozone, Oxygen and other skids.
We fabricate pipes in steel and plastics.
· We use all types of welding machines including HDPE and Electrofusion welders.
· We have a large number of hand tools to do small, medium and large fabrications and installations in a workshop and on site.
Plant & Equipment Rental
Rent tools and equipment with trained and certified operators.
1. HDPE electrofusion machines, hydraulic but welding machines, socket welding and plastic fusion hot air gun.
2. Huck bolt machine, hydraulic steel punch, threading machines from ½ inch to 4 inch, welding equipment and welders, grinders, 3 phase and 220V generators, compressors, and other hand tools and equipment.
3. 4X4 TLB, flat bed and car trailers.
4. Diesel pump, electric submersible and other pumps.
5. Site offices with air conditioners, shipping storage containers, ablution block.
6. Concrete bucket, wacker, compactor roller 760mm, concrete mixer and other civil equipment.
7. Circular saw, wood plainer and other wood working tools.
8. Survey equipment including theodolites, dumpy levels, laser level and other measuring equipment.
9. Scaffold towers.

We maintain water treatment plants including, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation. We utilize our crane truck to remove equipment to do repairs in our workshop or to transport items to the manufacturers for repairs.

Trailer Fabrication
What are Vuka Engineering & Construction’s Capabilities?
We have a fully equipped fabrication facility that can fabricate, repair and maintain trailers.
We are SANS registered.
We only fabricate high quality steel or stainless steel trailers.
All 6 meter or shorter mild steel trailers are completely fabricated before they are disassembled for the hot dip galvanizing process.
The trailers are then galvanized to conform to SANS standards.
The trailers are reassembled after galvanizing ensuring that trailers last without the risk of corrosion.
We manufacture customised trailers for our clients that have a demand for high quality trailers that last.
We use 3mm steel or thicker for most structural parts to allow material to be hot dip galvanized without distorting.
We strip, reconstruct and do maintenance on all trailers.
Advantages of our trailers:
Galvanised steel has a strong protective coating of zinc that makes galvanising a corrosion protection solution for steel that is intended to have a long service life and self-maintaining.
